Our Story

The story of Hip Hop Occupies to Decolonize as told by our comrades at Shades of Silence, published September 13th, 2013:

"This isn’t your traditional story, this isn’t a plain narrative with a beginning and ending but rather a series of events told by a person who doesn’t conform to the capitalist sense of linear time, so please bare with me…. This story starts at beginning of time (what ever that means to peoples) and it ends at the end of time, the present or the here and now. This is part of the story of the Cypher.
Hip Hop Occupies -
It was a dark and stormy night ……nah really, it was….. The Occupy movement was a few days strong in its Seattle manifestation, when the Cypher appeared, it consisted of a harmonica player, a blow horn and an emcee, and a circle of down hip hop heads….Oh yeah and of course the rain...."
